Google, has declared it’s ban on advertising Cryptocurrencies and anything related to it which includes ICOs, Crypto exchanges, Digital Coins wallets. The exact words read that restrictions were imposed to any advertisement related to “Cryptocurrencies and it’s related content.”
Ban on Advertisements confirmed.
A few days ago, reports on many companies functioning with ICO Industry was out and that Google was deciding on putting restrictions to these ICOs on it’s platform. On 13th of March, Google announced ‘The Financial Services: New restricted financial products policy (June 2018)’ which was a confirmation regarding a possible ban on Crypto ads. The new changes will be put into act by the end of June this year.
However, some of the advertisements can still show up on Google if it gets certified. Advertising through Adwords will need a license sanctioned by proper financial services authority in the countries that they are planning on putting the ads for. They also have to make sure that all the ads are put in accordance with the Adwords policy. Only then can the Crypto advertisers ask for Certification with Google. The policy is meant for any crypto platform across the globe.
This policy by Google comes as a coincidence or a planned event, weeks after Facebook’s ban on Cryptocurrency advertisements. The advertisements form a huge source of revenue for these massive platforms and therefore this scanning procedure has been implemented to pull down the cheap, malware driven ads.
“We’re constantly updating our policies as we see new threats emerge. Last year, we added 28 new advertiser policies and 20 new publisher policies to combat new threats and improve the ads experience online. This year, we updated several policies to address ads in unregulated or speculative financial products like binary options, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange markets and contracts for difference (or CFDs)”, stated the post.
Google forms a larger ecosystem and the Crypto fanatics seem to be concerned whether such a huge step would turn favorable for the community or not.
