The World Economic Forum (WEF), an annual summit in Davos witnessed a dominating crypto war on January 23, 2018. The cryptocurrency growth, changes in the dynamics of global finance, migration and the war on terror were the most influencing areas on the agenda.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, British Prime Minister Theresa May and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu headed the global narrative state shaping issues at the Summit. Abbasi shared his views on the ruptures in the world including the problems like migration, the war on terror, economic strikes, energy sufficiency and role of Pakistan in the Belt and Road initiatives.
Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra group along with the former US Vice-President Al Gore conducted a discussion on how the leaders should boost up their efforts on the climatic changes action. The Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal talked about the ‘data responsibility in a fractured world’.
The International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde and UK’s Exchequer Chancellor Philip Hammond had a discussion on the ‘remaking of global finance’. The discussion session covered the uncontrollable growth of cryptocurrencies. They also discussed the declination of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency and the transformations that the international financial scenario is facing. The other issues were also highlighted in the session like sexual harassment, socioeconomic development etc.
